Gunnar liked to be away from his home in Norway, especially sailing out with adopted brother Ólafur, whom he loved dearly. Ólafur was a brave Norsemen of the tribe of the White Wolves. He was known to his kin as ‘the Wild One’, because he often wandered around in the forests during the night, dressed in nothing more than the skin of a wolf he was said to have killed with his bare hands. As a young boy he was kidnapped from a fjord in Iceland by some rivaling tribe. Thus he was raised as a brother to Gunnar and the twins Hallgrim and Gunnbjorn, the proud sons of the chieftain. Everybody thought Gunnar and Ólafur had been brothers all of their lives.
